My piece is titled Tavalod-e-dobareh (Persian for ‘rebirth’), representing the central theme. It is meant to symbolize Nowruz, an important cultural celebration in Iranian, and various other cultures. Observed on March, it commemorates a new beginning and year, when winter finally passes, and spring comes again. However, my piece is not meant to only be cultural, it is meant to be political as well. There has been an uprising in Iran going on for 5 (almost 6) months, starting on Sept. 16, after the death of Jina (Mahsa) Amini, with the peoples of Iran desiring a ‘rebirth’ for the country.
